Sivakarthikeyan took to Twitter to announce the release date initially the movie has to release on 26 March 2021 but it due to postponed due to the Tamilnadu 2021 legislative assembly elections, and has scheduled to release on 12 May 2021 on the occasion of Ramzaan. The shooting of this movie one half will take place in Chennai and the anther half will be set in Goa. The filmmakers said that the reason we titled doctor is that the movie has elements that are related to Doctors.
