Marutha is set around a family collecting money for the arranged marriage of their daughter, Amuthavalli, played by Lovelyn Chandrasekhar. The movie focuses on the practice known as Seimurai, which involves giving the gift of money to the host so they can hold a family event. While this practice is said to add a sense of community to all involved, in the movies, we see it developing into a matter of pride.
However, this is not the only movie that Lovelyn has appeared in. She made her debut with the film House Owner in 2019. With there being a significant number of Tamil movies available on streaming sites, it could open Lovelyn to a whole host of new opportunities.
Why are Kollywood actors attracted to Hollywood?
Lovelyn wouldn’t be the first Tamil cinema actor to break away from Kollywood and make a name for themselves on the big screen. In 2007, Tamil actress Aishwarya Rai made the move to Hollywood and has since established herself as one of the most influential Indian celebrities because of her acting career.
Not only has she kept acting in Tamil cinema and Hindi movies, but has also appeared in The Pink Panther 2, playing the part of an Indian researcher and criminology expert. Aishwarya Rai has also been nominated for several Best Actress Filmfare Awards after appearing in two very successful Hindi movies, Guzaarish and Sarbjit.
It’s not just Aishwarya who has become successful after moving from Kollywood to Hollywood. Priyanka Chopra also found fame after making her acting debut in the Tamil movie Thamizhan as the protagonist’s love interest. She has since starred in many Bollywood movies, as well as the box office hit Isn’t It Romantic.
Since then, Priyanka has become one of the most popular Indian actresses in the world, and in 2019 she was ranked as one of the most powerful women in entertainment.
The future of Lovelyn
