Movie Story
The movie story is about boxing set in the 1960s and 1970s showing a bloody battle between two clans from north Chennai, where boxing was an extremely popular spot in Chennai. Arya played kabilan of the Sarpatta is Dalit working as a porter in a factory. he stays away from boxing because of his mother, who believes his other boxing career indirectly lead to his death. But kabilan secretly practiced and watched the all boxing matches and deeply admired Saraptta coach Rangan who is also a local political leader.
A combination of circumvents Rangan gives kabilan the opportunity to get into the ring to avenge a string of defeats at the hands of a rival boxing team. A low-class Dalit proter has chosen for key match higher cast players mean that kaboilin has faced wrth of his own classmen, including Rangan’s family. When he has on the brink of a victory sociopolitical forces come in the way and kabilan is left to languish this time to fight himself. The movie sends a message to the audience. This self-realization which Ranjith calls eighte yourself. comes from the Buddhas teaching of being your own light.

Arya acted a very good performance in the lead role, contributing a big chunk of the film’s output and owning the action sequences with his physique and confident outlook. This is another good film by the actor. The supporting cast who all come up with superb performances.
The cinimotagrfghrhy and direction in the movie are great quality bringing back to the 1960s and 1970s period setting very naturally. Santhosh Narayanan’s ooy setting music makes shim continue his track record and interesting tunes and the Neeye Oli song brightens the movie.
